[ACEWORKS participation] "Parking and charging well..." Looking at the future of self-driving cars

We always hoped for a future where you can drive, park, and even charge your car when you enter your destination. Such perfect autonomous driving is still far away, but at least autonomous parking and automatic charging technologies are becoming a reality faster than expected. On the 13th, a place was set up in Misa district, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, to check the current status of these technologies.
The demonstration began in the Drop Off Zone. When the driver got out of the car, entered the vehicle number in the kiosk, and requested charging, the circuit breaker opened and the vehicle switched to self-driving mode. For safety, safety personnel were on board the driver's seat on the day, but from next year, completely unmanned tests will be possible through regulatory sandboxes.
If this technology is commercialized, it is expected that it will be possible not only to resolve parking difficulties but also to efficiently operate electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
"This technology can be helpful to people who have difficulty parking, such as the elderly and the disabled," said Kim Cheol-soo, head of Han Ja-yeon. "As we can make the most efficient use of the city's limited charging infrastructure, it will be a great help to expand the supply of electric vehicles." We could get a glimpse of what the future parking lot will look like in Hanam on this day.
