R&D Engineer Youngjun Ban of ACEWORKS SDV Division Wins the ‘Seoyon Academic Award’ at the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers

ACEWORKS (CEO Seungbeom Park), a future mobility technology company, announced that Youngjun Ban, R&D Engineer of the SDV Division Software Team, has been awarded the 2025 Seoyon Academic Award hosted by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE).
The Seoyon Academic Award is one of the most prestigious honors in the field of automotive engineering, presented to researchers who demonstrate outstanding technical achievements and meaningful contributions to the industry. Ban received the award for his paper, “Obstacle Avoidance Path Planning and Tracking Algorithm for Autonomous Racing Vehicles,” which was highly evaluated for its technical sophistication and strong applicability within autonomous driving control systems.
His research integrates multi-sensor fusion for environment perception and utilizes a Frenet coordinate-based optimal path-planning and control algorithm, enabling autonomous vehicles to avoid obstacles safely and reliably even at high speeds.
This award further underscores ACEWORKS’ research excellence in the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) domain. A company spokesperson commented, “Youngjun Ban’s accomplishment exemplifies ACEWORKS’ commitment to creating value through advanced technology,” adding, “We will continue to drive global-level innovation in autonomous driving and vehicle control technologies.”
